LaGwyn Durden
NOCSAE Board Member
The NOCSAE board of directors represents a diverse and passionate group of sport and medical professionals who work together toward the common goal of reducing sport-related injuries. They serve without compensation.
LaGwyn Durden is a nonvoting member on NOCSAE’s board of directors representing the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). She joined the board in 2024.
LaGwyn is the NCAA’s director of sports medicine in the NCAA Sport Science Institute. Before joining the NCAA, she served as associate athletics director for sports medicine at the University of Texas at Austin, overseeing healthcare delivery to 17 Longhorns teams and coordinating women’s health and wellness programming. LaGwyn was an athletic trainer for women’s track and field/cross country at the University for more than 20 years. Other leadership roles have included serving on the sports medicine staff for the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games and chairing the NCAA Committee on Competitive Safeguards and Medical Aspects of Sports.
The National Collegiate Athletic Association is a member-led organization dedicated to the well-being and lifelong success of college athletes. The NCAA regulates student athletics for almost 1,100 schools in all fifty states, Puerto Rico, and Canada. It also organizes athletic programs for colleges, helping over 500,000 student athletes compete annually in college sports.
