John "Jack" Ryan, MD

The NOCSAE board of directors represents a diverse and passionate group of sport and medical professionals who work together toward the common goal of reducing sport-related injuries. They serve without compensation.
Dr. Jack Ryan has been on NOCSAE’s board of directors since 2007, representing the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. Jack is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in Sports Medicine at Michigan Surgery Specialists with over thirty-five years of international medical knowledge. He is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He has cared for professional, college, high school, and recreational athletes, and received his undergraduate degree at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York. Jack received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and completed his internship and residency at Letterman Army Medical Center, Presidio, of San Francisco, California. He completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine at Hughston Orthopedic Clinic, Columbus, Georgia, and served as chief of Orthopedics at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York for seven years. Jack participated in many clinical and basic science research projects and was chosen as commander of the U.S. Army Institute for Surgical Research in Texas.
