Dr. Robert Cantu is a NOCSAE vice president and chair of the NOCSAE Scientific Advisory Committee. He has served on the NOCSAE board of directors for over twenty-five years, representing American College of Sports Medicine.

Bob is the medical director and director of Clinical Research at the Dr. Robert C. Cantu Concussion Center, and the chief of Neurosurgery Service and director of Sports Medicine at Emerson Health in Concord, MA. He is a renowned neurosurgeon with professional responsibilities at various organizations, including: clinical professor of Neurology and Neurosurgery, and clinical therapeutics leader at the Boston University CTE Center; founding member and medical director of the Concussion Legacy Foundation; medical director of the National Center for Catastrophic Sports Injury Research; vice president and chairman of the Scientific Advisory Committee; senior advisor to the NFL Head, Neck and Spine Committee; member of the NFLPA Mackey-White Health and Safety Committee, NCAA Concussion Safety Advisory Group, NCAA Student-Athletic Concussion Injury Litigation Committee (Medical Science Committee) and World Rugby Concussion Working Group.

Bob has authored over 545 scientific publications, including thirty-four books on neurology and sports medicine. He has served as associate editor of Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, and Exercise and Sports Science Review, as well as on the editorial boards of The Physician and Sports Medicine, Clinical Journal of Sports Medicine, Journal of Athletic Training, Neurosurgery and World Neurosurgery. Bob holds a BA from the University of California, Berkeley, and received his MA and MD from the University of California Medical School, San Francisco.

American College of Sports Medicine advances and integrates scientific research to provide educational and practical applications of exercise science and sports medicine. ACSM represents seventy sports medicine professions and has more than 50,000 members and certified professionals from ninety countries.
